Noida is gearing up for a massive expansion. To keep up with skyrocketing industrial demand and spark a fresh wave of investment and jobs, officials are planning to build “New Noida” across roughly 20,000 hectares of land.
According to Noida Authority CEO Krishan Karunesh, this expansion comes alongside a major push for better infrastructure, with the ambitious goal of creating between 5 and 6 lakh direct and indirect jobs by 2030.
What started in 1976 as a modest industrial township right outside Delhi has grown into North India’s powerhouse economic hub. Thanks to its smart layout, great connectivity, and proximity to the capital, Noida has never stopped attracting big money in manufacturing, IT, and commercial business.
But with the current city limits fast approaching saturation, the Noida Authority is setting its sights on New Noida. The massive land acquisition process will roll out in phases. At the same time, the state government is cooking up new policies to allow higher Floor Area Ratio (FAR) in the existing city, which will unlock even more space for development.
Getting around is also about to get a lot easier. Three new metro corridors are on the drawing board, designed to link the city to Gaur City (via Char Murti), the Botanical Garden, and the upcoming multimodal transport hub in Boraki. This will build on an already impressive transit network that includes the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway, Yamuna Expressway, DND Flyway, and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.
CEO Karunesh revealed that the upcoming fifth groundbreaking ceremony will showcase around 120 industrial projects, pulling in close to ₹35,000 crore in investments. These projects span everything from data infrastructure and electronics to commercial real estate, logistics, and institutional spaces.
The Blueprint for New Noida is massive, spanning 168 sectors. It comes just in time, as authorities point out that 90% of Noida’s current land—excluding floodplains—is already fully developed. Over the last three decades, the city has handed out roughly 9,500 industrial plots, 5,000 commercial spots, and more than 250 institutional allotments.
All this growth has paid off, creating over 12 lakh jobs over the last 30 to 35 years. Today, Noida is an absolute powerhouse for the region: it drives about 10% of Uttar Pradesh’s entire GDP, handles 60% of the state’s electronics and IT exports, and commands a staggering 80% of its apparel exports.
Global giants like Samsung, Dixon, TCS, Infosys, HCL, Microsoft, Wipro, and Adobe already call Noida home. Meanwhile, massive data center projects by Sify and AdaniConneX are cementing the city’s status as a tech capital. Looking ahead, the Authority is actively pushing for next-gen research and development in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and battery tech.
Ultimately, the birth of New Noida is set to do much more than just make the city bigger. It is designed to supercharge the local infrastructure, bring in global investments, open up hundreds of thousands of jobs, and firmly position Uttar Pradesh as a frontrunner in manufacturing.
